We've been having an issue with sheet arrival on our sm52. Once the press gets past about 9500sph the display start showing that the sheet is arriving late into the headlays,(with the manuel timing wound fully forward) It will still run ok and will let it get upto around 12000 before sheets start checking. We've checked the timing and that seems ok, it has a new suction tape and new infeed rollers but nothing seems to bring it back inline. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

The press will retard the timing as you speed up, it should eventually center out though?

Or are you saying it never centers?

No its doesnt centre up at all once it speeds up, only when it goes down to 9500ish. It's not even as if it is checking all the time once it speeds up even though it shows the sheet been so late.
    Thanks

sounds to me like the timing needs advancing at 8000sph it should be reading between 3 and 5 on cpc with your manual advance in the middle

The press will not automatically advance due to no auto sheet arrival on SM52. Sheet arrival is done with knob on drive side feeder door. To me it sounds like the feeder clutch. Not the electromagnetic clutch but the one way bearing in the feeder drive. Very easy to confirm this is in fact the problem. Switch your press from stream fed mode to single sheet mode. If the problem goes away it is the one way bearing or clutch.

If you gave an issue finding the part number for the over running clutch let me know, I should be able to get it for you.

Does the problem go away when you go to single sheet mode?
