You should be laying down metallic ink in the first unit

Agreed with most of the above. Heaviest coverage last with the C and M. All process inks are transparent for trapping purposes so if one order suits you as opposed to another, then by all means go with it.

Don't let tack control your order, use tack reducer if needed, most inks are unitack but yellow doesn't trap Very well if first down. I usually run kcmy and will go mkcy or cmyk, but yellow is best left last if needed to trap. Metallics I will run in units 1, 2, 3, or 6, if I need to.

General rule is, smallest, darkest image first. Stick with kcmy as much as possible. Moving inks around willy nilly won't make much money for your shop. Get used to that sequence, use a high quality ink, and keep rolling.

Testing done by PIRA (England) determined that the correct color sequence is C-M-Y black can be first or last. With this sequence the "reds" are better, than in any other sequence. . .for correct color that is. . . .period. Since we are most sensitive to red. . .

Hitrun has the best point on the thread. Quality Ink. I have worked at shops where month after month was spent(wasted) trying inferior inks from good salespeople that never delivered what was promised only to go back to the old, $5.00 more expensive per can quality ink.

Which color are good in term of quality and price. We use Cinkarna colors from Slovenia. But they are not so good.

K C M Y is the order that you want, First is ink tack is set highest to lowest in that sequence also ink film thickness also goes thinnest to thickest in that order(REGARDLESS OF TACK). Plus secondary colors, red green and blue, print the best when wet trapped M over C, Y over C and Y over M. You can mix them up if you want to but KCMY is the industry standard and should provide the best results.

Been doing this stuff for 40+ years some high end some low end quality. 4/c rotation ALWAYS works best as kcmy, with two exceptions:
1 if there is a blue solid and a red screen, then kmcy.
2 if there is a blk solid with under color (normally 40% screen cyan) then cmyk.
Hope this helps. Always do what you think is right, if it don't work, then ask for opinions!

I usually always 90% of the time run YMCK, and have been able to stay consitant and True without any difficulty.

ink is tac rated, hightest to lowest, as one won't pic the other off. ink makers usually tac the ink to run k,c,m,y.

I have seen in many presses, the order is either ymck or ycmk. When Black is used as 4th color, the quality of printing looks improved than it is used as 1st color. C and M can be interchanged. But Y and K as 1st and 4th respectively gives a great result. Where Y is 100%, there only, it can be used as 4th one.
