So my work has me running this old planeta (1986) and it has a real annoying problem with framing on the coater blanket (the framing is with coating), the packing used is just another blanket trimmed to match the die, any suggestions?

Back off the pressure as much as you can without losing coverage and just clean it with water every so often .

'framing' never heard the term? Is it missing coating or drying on coating?

old planetas mosts of them come with double blankets, if this one does too then dought if cutting blanket packing will have an effect. picture framing with aquaous coating never seen that, now if your blanket is taking on ink, then you must check visscosity of coating, then check settings to plate,if all is well then turn up the amount of coating you are putting on???????? is this an orange peel look on your blanket..kbars ran old rz,,rz planeta for years...

I have never run a Planeta but over the years i have run four different makes of coaters. The one thing they all have in common is everything is a kiss setting. Your apply roller stripes your blanket and cylinder pressure. Also like kbarz said your visscosity is important. I have actually gotten bad barrels of coating have you tired other coating or a different batch?

I would like to recommend you check Coating for Solar Cover Glass may be it can fix your problem.
