Command workstation 4 came with my color imagerunner but I've lost the CD and now have a new graphics workstation. Where can I download the latest version of canon / EFI command workstation 4 for windows vista?

It used to be on the usa.canon.com site but I can't locate it right now. You can download it from canon europe though here: http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0023578.asp

(even though it says windows 2000, xp, it also runs fine for me on vista and this is the version of command workstation I'm running on windows vista 4.4.0.36.)

It's always the simpliest things that I overlook! I didn't think of looking at the EFI website. When we got our very first imagepass they didn't seem to have any of their drivers online and referred me back to canon and I haven't looked back at the EFI site for the last 5 years. How time flies! (also a handy way to peak at the drivers for RIPs I don't have but am thinking of.) Thanks.

Thanks ddigen3 -- just downloaded and installed command workstation 5. Haven't put it through its paces yet, but it looks snazzy so far :)

My pleasure. I had the privilege of being a beta tester over the past several months and have been in direct contact with EFI during the testing. You may have heard it already that they've launched a forum just for CWS 5, which can be found at fieryforums.efi.com. Between the forum and myself, if you've got any questions I'm positive you'll find answers. Feel free to contact me directly, too.

    Enjoy!

My Command Workstation 5 "gripes" (or maybe things I just don't understand yet)

    * There is still no way I can find to display detailed job status for two different printers at once. When I click on an individual RIP/printer on the left side, it rolls over the main window. But why can't I have two (or three) printers displayed at once above and below eachother, or side by side... Without that I have to keep clicking back and forth to see the status while I have lots of screen space not being used.

    * It seems with it connected to my small docucolor I'm not able to see the number of prints that have been printed if I cancel a job. (so if I need to interrupt or stop printing a job I know where it left off to print the remainder)

Are you talking about where you have the option to login to the CLC through CWS as Guest, Operator, or Adminstrator? If so, that's the password set on the Fiery RIP itself.

I am using 5.0.1 and I love it. I am more than okay with the server list and clicking on which server I want to access. It gets too confusing figuring out which file is which when you have all the files listed from both machines in one window, anyways. Only gripe is that it defaults to the "Hold" tab and not the "Printed" tab when you switch servers. But once you do pick the "Printed" tab, you can see all that has been printed. While a job prints, in the "Printing" part of the window it shows all of the information, from left to right. And it does show how many you're printing, and where you're at in the job as far as quantity is concerned. I always expand my CW window to the max, and I use command/open apple - tab, to switch between programs that are active. So screen space isn't a concern.

It sounds like you're imposing with Fiery Impose, is this correct? I don't know what your budget, deadline, or workflow is like, but it's not the cheapest option unless you get it bundled anyway -- https://estore.efi.com/shop/default.aspx I believe it still comes with a dongle when you purchase it. You might also consider imposing in indesign or imposing the pdf with a pdf imposition tool if budget is an issue.
