Thanks for your efforts in advance. I have had my di down for about 3 months due (from what I have been told by Heidi Mexico) to the svk3 board. I had the same problem about a year ago, the tech and electric engineer came out and re-soldered the x7 plug. The problem deteroriated with time, press restarting, not cooling enough, etc. Present day I bought a refurbished svk with a new x7 plug and had it all installed, but still no dice? The machine will turn on, inch, and run, but when I try to send it into impression (engaging all 4 heads) the machine restate and says int plus on the control panel. At this point, I'm not sure where to go, I have been told by the heidy tech that the board is not refurbed 100%, but ithinkthey just want to sell me another board. Is there anything that I could be overlooking or should try? I am at my wits end with what seems to be a money pit! Thanks, kristian.

There is more than 1 connector causing this problem also X6 and the other X7 (there are 2 X7 connector)

Thanks for the input! The x7 connector that o am refering to is positioned vertcially and closest to the outside of the board. Which other plugs should I be looking at/for? Should I solder these connections straight into the board?

What conditions are the two di's in, impressions and what are you asking? Thanks, kristian

If you follow the blue wires from X7 you mentioned you get to X6 also closest to the outside on the same board as X6 there is also a X7 connector. Soldering direct to the board is not my favor, better is to get new connectors. What me helped in the past was to bend each pin on the board first one to the front seccond one to behind and so on so the connector you put on will be thigter. This solution is not a long term solution, but just for now.

I agree with Marc on not soldering the pins directly. The main problem is that people do not use the correct Amphenol tool to insert the wires in the plug, instead they us a small screwdriver which actually makes the problem worse by widening the slot in which the wire is set in. (Not too mention inadverntently driving the screwdriver through their finger when it slips.)

Also keep in mind that if you are getting the "init" error and youtr console turns off while the fans start back up that it is not neccessarily related to the SVK board. While the SVK board is typically the problem, all it means is that you have a 24v dead short somewhere. Anytime this happens a blue wire is grounding to the press somewhere if it is not on the SVK board. I have seen this happen with the long stroke cylinders that put the plate cylinders on impression. I have also seen it happen when a wire was rubbing on one of the oscillating roller cams and it finally wore through.

Just some more food for thought.

paul, thanks for the guidance. this is the second board i have tried installing, so like you said maybe i should be looking for something else. in reference to there being a ground, where would you reccomend looking? the heidy guys here in mexico are convinced that its the board and just want to sell me another (without guarantee). i dont mind buying something, but i want to make sure that its going to clear up my problem. or better yet someone really diagnose the problem so that i can get on with using the press!

Unfortunately this is a difficult problem to troubleshoot if indeed it is not the SVK board. As I stated in most instances it is. If not you have to check all of the blue wires on the press to make sure they are not contacting bare metal anywhere. Sometimes they can be found just by moving the wire bundles around. In short I really can't make a recommendation. One machine, in a final act of desperation, I actually found the short by turning off the lights in the press room and running the press, I saw a spark and it led me to the grounded wire which was hitting the aformentioned oscillating roller cam intermittently. This one took me 3 days to find.

I would have to agree with Heidelberg Mexico's assessment as they have seen your machine and better understand the situation than I being 2,700 miles or so away from you.

Thanks for the ideas Paul. I have the heidy guys coming out next week, I will let you know of what has progressed. As far as the board is concerned, if the machine can inch, run, and burn plates it stands to reason that your theory that a blue wire is grounded somewhere, right? My question is that is all the pre mentioned functions work except for going into impression that the card should be 100%?

Did you try to go into impression one station instead off all four.

Paul, just spoke with Anthony @. Qmdipress.com. He has a thought that the x7 horizontal plug with the two red wires is my problem. They might be arcing and thus the problem getting power to run the 24v and going into impression. The plug that I replaced was a vertical x7 plug, but it was the original yellow style plug. Anthony told me that heidleberg recommends a different plug, as it is much more of a snug fit, or not as problematic? We are have same amount of funcionability with the new card as we did with the old card. We have never given thought to the other x7 horizontal plug or checked it. Can you give me your thoughts on this?

Since rechecking the X7 connector, and turn on the machine it will now only inch. It seems as if the card I'd deteriorating every time you tun the machine on. Now I can only inch the machine, try to get it to just run and it restarts "init plus"?

Anthony is correct, it could also be related to that plug also. With a good digital volt meter you could record the 24v off the x7 plug and see if it fluctuating between the ZTK and SVK.

This is definitely and issue which needs the attention of a knowledgeable techncian.

paul, does this board get worse with time, or will a better plug salvage the board? i have a electrical engineer from heidy coming out next week, but cringe at the thought of buying another board!

I Have removed the two X7 and X6 plugs and soldered the wires directly onto the board, no issues since...

They came and hooked up their wires and resurrected my di like Frankenstein! In all seriousness, we removed the 2 x7 and x6 female and male connectors for new clear/white plugs. The old board that I previously thought to be a dud is working again!:). The only problem now is that I have a air leak, and the compressor is not getting sufficient pressure to constantly run jobs. We traced it down to the cyan Short stroke cylinder, so a cheap fix and should be back in business by the beginning of next week. I would like today thanks to all that contributed and helped, I would not have been able to tell the techs what I wanted, instead would have ended up with another ack board ($2500 USED)!

It really is not that difficult as long as you are aware of it before hand.
