our humidifiers work well, but i'm having issues with the calcium in the water (produces a white dust/power that is getting everywhere - and i mean everywhere, on the crepes, pizza and pancakes, i'm trying to pass it off as powered sugar). anybody have any thoughts on a good filtation system that would remove the minerals from the water?

We used Ikeuchi USA's AKIMist, since it can do spot humidification. It can maintain about 50% humidity in the area you need, and we didn't lose cash trying to humidify the whole facility. I think they're out of Ohio, so they're not too far. I know others use these big systems, but I think if you can focus on one area where you need it most, you can save a lot of $$.

We use a simple floor model fan with a water tank. There is a piece of cloth which rotates through the watertrough. So the cloth rotates through the water, air gets sucked through or past the cloth which humidifies the room - these fans or water colling fan units cost about US40 here - very cheap and very effective. I find it so strange on the foreign forums that all want to have these high-tech devices, industrial humidifiers etc, where a simple plan would be able to do the trick....

I'll tell you a low-cost solution...Two buckets with hot water...Two 3 kW water heaters, dipped in...and a waterboy to fill them :). No kidding, since in Europe there aren't any cheap/efficient solutions it works for me (bout 200 sq feet). I would've went for a Hydrofogger (looks good), but ...US only...
