    Hello,
I would like to ask information about the new Konica mfp.
Does anybody owns any of these machines?
I need some kind of information such as quality, thick paper stock etc.
    Thanks in advance

I have run a KM 8050 does ok job. But recently seen prints from a 6500 does nice job runs stock up to 300gm2 which is a 14pt. Runs 65ppm 8.5 x 11 paper weight. Get a Fiery rip if you want to have plenty of color control.

Do you know what cartridges do those MF printers use? Part #, yield?

We have a Bizhub Pro 6500 machine and it is a great machine.
We run aprox 100k a month on the machine and have not had any problems with it as of yet. 1 year old and counting. You get 35k Black and 25k color per toner. Manitenance after 200K sheets. Cost aprox $2500.00 You can also go with a cost per click then the maintenance is included but it is more expensive in the long run. Hope this helps..

We also might get into a konica minolta IKON branded CPP550 this fall coming from our canon machines. The ballpark cost per click is quite appealing on the konica. We'll go with a service contract though -- while there is definitely some flexibility lost (e.g. the ability to mix small amounts of color in without paying the full color click) I think the service contract is really comforting in that if something big does go wrong we won't have a huge unexpected cost. Without a service contract we'd want to have multiple machines to have the parts to swap to troubleshoot, and I'm not sure if we could even get the parts on our own... plus I think (hope) that there's some good economy in the volume purchasing of drums, toner, etc. that gets us service from knoweldgeable techs in addition for just about the same as we'd pay for toner, drums, and transfer/fuser durables on our own.

We have also been running our c6500 like crazy. It is an unbelievable machine with colors that absolutely POP. It also handles various paper weights and substrates. We run on 100# linen, 80# 100% PCW, 12 pt CS1 and 12 pt CS2.

FYI, paper suppliers do not supply 14pt in digital cut sizes so rule that out of your thought process (without digital cut papers, image has a tendancy to jump.) Even so 12 pt is better than what the cannon image press is running...

Got my first IKON BP 560 samples back and I'm pretty impressed. The 560/550 appears to be a 650 that's detuned to run at a slower speed to come in at a lower market price but I think we're talking about the same characteristics so I'm glad to see your very positive post.

The first samples I got back had great blues and greens though the reds had a bit more K in them that I was expecting having printed for 5 years now on canon IRCs -- I'm sure this will be an easy adjustment for me though either on the machine, fiery rip profile, or my workflow. I really like the density for solids and consistency -- might just have to apply a positive tone curve to K or my reds.

The stock flexibility will be a nice bonus.

And the "bizhub PRO C5500‘s back-to-front and page-to-page registration ensures a degree of precision that comes very close to offset printing results" will be a welcome improvement -- registration is always an issue with our current IRCs with trial and error alignment prints to hone it in on each different stock so the fold is as perfect as possible.

IKON branded? Go with the Konica Minolta OEM. Dicey things are afoot with the Ricoh buyout. I'm just sayin'...

Our local IKON service technician is extremely valuable to me in his skill so I'm strongly motivated to stick with IKON despite some uncertainty at the corporate/system level right now.

Point taken. As a longtime wrenchturner and app specialist myself, I've been that guy. I've also been the one to have to tell my former customer I can no longer help them through no fault of my own. Fair warning.

If you're uncertain about local KM dealer or direct service, have the sales guy bring the local tech out. If there's no mesh or if you think the guy's not what you're after, there's no point in proceeding. After all, it's the tech with whom you have the most meaningful relationship. The sales guy's just a matchmaker in a tie. Too many of these deals are like an arranged marriage. You don't want to wake up a couple months into a 60 month lease and find a decent machine made a dog by a so-so tech. Tell the Konica dealer you want a tech who's trained and got Gold or Silver Seal in the class. And someone who worked on the 500s and knows how lucky he is to have 6500s instead....
