    Hi

First of all a big hello to everyone here.

Hope this is posted in the right place.

I have a quick question to do with gaining an NVQ in Lithographic Printing.

I currently work on the back of a Komori 4 colour press as an assistant. But over the last year the number one machine minder has been teaching me how to print (I have been on the machine for 5 years).

I have always asked for NVQ training in the past, but the manager has always come up with excuses.
Now due to company relocation my press is getting replaced with a 6 colour press and training is being made available. So far so good.
But yesterday I found out that I would now not be working on the press and I would be put as a floorhand (Turning board etc). As they want 2 trained printers on each press.

Now I have been told to complete the training you would have to be working on the press and producing work. Is this correct? I cant see how I could complete the NVQ if I am not on a press.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Buzz

Initialy you said training is provided how are you going to be trained? You need to talk to your management about training because as you have put it, there is no way you can be trained while you are not on the machine. Printing is more of hands on than theory.
    Goodluck
