My shop uses an old Challenge Champion 30-1/2" cutter. My question is, what setting should I be using for the clamp pressure? Right now I have it set at 1,000 PSI and it seems to be working quite well - no issues with NCR and minimal dishing when cutting deep stacks of coated book.

Cutter is a model MC, size 305, serial number 7023. Made by The Challenge Machinery Co. in Grand Haven Michigan.

Thoughts based on experience would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you aren't bruising NCR at 1,000psi then you are lucky and I wouldn't fix what isn't broke, for everything else you are cutting you should have your clamp pressure almost maximum pressure. If you are changing your blades like they should be, based on usage, you should never have dishing on other stocks. My experience is from 35+ years in the trade. Hope this helps.

Ditto, don't fix what isn't broke. If you are concerned about the carbonless, get some capsule spray which indicates damage to the paper that you won't see right away. 34+ years here.

Challenge Champion 305 MC cutter won't cut through a 1 ream of letter size paper. it only cut about 450 pages and leave the rest with a loud noise at the end.
also my foot clamp will not come down when i step on the pedal?

    any help would be grateful
