I am running a Ryobi 3200 MCD. We just bought it and it has alot of new rollers and I checked every roller pressure and they are all good. When i print just type its tolerable but anything heavy it turns emulsified(orange peel) anyone got any tricks up there sleeve to fix this?! I would love to hear any suggestions. Also if you know how to increase plate to blanket pressure because im not sure on how to do that with this press

Ziggy this is a common problem with ryobi that I have seen many times over the years. From what I have seen in the field it can vary quite a bit the reason this happens. The simplest and easiest attack at resolving this might be chemistry. Different fountain solution or mixing ratios. Also I have seen experienced operators try to over compensate with getting color to density and throwing so much ink on the rollers they have to in return throw alot of water at it as well with the outcome of emulsified ink. What dampeners are you running on this press? Are you also running a color head on it when this happens? Any drier units installed on the delivery, I have seen problems caused from the heat raised and since the roller train sits above the delivery it dries things out fast and the need to turn up the water to compensate does not help the problem. So check chemistry, try different solutions, water and ink balance, if running a color head try running without it and see what happens it could be water carry over. Turn the heater off if applicable. Also a good friday afternoon deglazing. A change in ink might also be in order. Keep notes on the changes as you make them to look back upon and see what worked or didnt. I have also seen people running plates that are wider than the rollers causing excessively damp edges that carry back into the roller train cause this as well. Good luck hope I helped.

Does that mean actual printing....hands on? Cos if so, i'd have thought you should have mastered the basics by now.

I'm not familiar with your machine but listing your products and values your mixing might help. What have you checked and what not?
Seeing you mention it, have you checked your form rollers and your plate to blanket settings?
Basically it sounds as if you have far to much ink/water present.
Printing is about minimums, if your press sounds like your frying fish then forget it, far to much ink.

Ink your press lightly and turn down your damp until it catches up then increase damp til clean

Well thanks guys i hadn't even thought of changing up my fountain solution and neither did my boss who's been printing for over 30 years. I on the other hand have only been printing for 3 years. I am not sure how to adjust the plate to blanket pressure on this machine. I only have good knowledge of the AB Dick 9840 and 9985. I run SuperMeg 220 in my tray and 5% alcohol. I have a crestline continuous dampener system on the ryobi. I have no problem running all this on my AB Dick 9985 which also has a crestline system.

We were going to buy one of these a single color presses to replace our ab dick 9870 and it would not print very good it seemed like there was no pressure. We told them to take it back. And we still have the 9870.
