i have a xerox docucolor 252 with command workstation 4 with efi hot folders. heres my problem... i want to print two files back to back in one pass...i have two jpgs...lets call the first one A.jpg that has my company logo and the other we will call B.jpg that has a picture and some data. keep in mind that B.jpg is going to be a different file every time after its been rendered(B1.jpg, B2.jpg, B3.jpg, etc) by my image software. so i need a solution that prints A.jpg on the front and all my B files individually on the back. Ive tried several duxplexing methods, VDP FROM CW4, and different pdf making fixes, but none seem reasonable when i have to apply this workflow to 2000 different images for 100+ clients. trust me one job took me 12 hours just to process and convert to pdf and then it crashed because the pdf file was so large. i just want a quick and easy way to print double sided that puts my logo on one side and my files individually on the other side. sounds easy right?? well ive been cracking my head for weeks now trying to find a solution any help would be appreciated.. i know that my explanation may seem very confusing so let me know if i need to further clarify something.

How many different A.jpg files are there - one for each different client, or ?

If there is only one A file, why not simply print that "old school" as stationery on the 252 as one pass, then load that one-side-printed stock in one of the drawers to print the fronts with the variable B images? I use the small drawers on my 242 for this as I mostly print from the OHCF; I keep two common "backs" loaded in the 8.5" x 11" drawers. Not very cool in terms of technology, but sometimes old school loading the paper is still easiest and fastest.

If there are 1 to 100 different A's my second thought would be to print them to Freeform masters with a blank page and the A.jpg as a page. But I'm not sure how you'd automate inserting a blank page in the B.jpgs to get 2 pages in the resulting page printed using the A freeform masters as I think there would need to be a blank there or else I don't think you'd get the second page from the freeform master if the variable doesn't have two pages to it (I could be wrong and would be interested if there is an easy way to do this with a multiple page master and single or lesser page variable input.)

first of all i would like to thank you for responding.. in response to the first question there is only one A.jpg its just my same company logo and info. and Jeff, ive thought of just doing that but it sucks when other people in my lab just dont care and will just take all my printed stuff out and just toss it to the side and when i finally need them they're all banged up so thats why im trying to get this done in one pass that way i load once and im done.. but this is a good start... keep em coming thanks

one more thing.. after using adobe acrobat to write a pdf for one of my jobs i keep getting this error "THE FILE IS TOO BIG FOR THE CURRENT OPERATION". anyone know any hacks or registry fixes for this or maybe another program that can make larger pdfs without having to break it up into smaller pdfs...

Have you tried using the later hot folders - as quoted by Fiery

"download Fiery User Software Package from http://www.efi.com/support/download-software.asp. Choose “Fiery Application Package 3b” from the EFI Software section."

This also has the latest CWS 5, as an option to set up, as well as latest Fiery scan.

I've heard the earlier version of hot folders may have had a memory leak causing crashing. Given that it seems this should best be installed on a separate computer so the Fiery has the minimum baggage to go wrong.

This isn't answering your question but maybe its giving a more stable platform?

Are you using a 64 bit operating system like Windows 7, 64 bit or Mac or are you limited to a 32 bit system which maxes out about 3 GIGs of RAM for a program.

Not knowing how much RAM you have in your machine. But you might try right clicking on COmputer in Start menu and then under System Properties, Performance Options, Advanced - adjust higher, perhaps 3 or more times higher than current max. I always set initial size and Max size to same high setting as it is supposed to reduce file fragmentation of that area. Remember its going to slow down a lot using hard drive as RAM but the question is whether it will finish. If it does maybe you can justify more RAM to speed things up a 1000 times. Also under Performance Options, Visual Effects try using adjust for best performance which will free up some RAM.

You should be able to open the Windows Task Manager, performance and see how much virtual memory is being used.

    Hello print_noob69,

i have had the same problem, this problem nearly killing me.

My solution is very simple, but it runs. I use Ragtime 6.5 to create the layout.
(any other proramm will do the same)

Site 1 is always jpg.A (front side, Logo...)
    Site 2 is for your individual jpg.s b, c, d, ...

Print it in duplex an your job is done.

I use a small cheap programm called "keytext 3" (http://www.mjmsoft.com/keytext.htm)

This programm is a easy to use keyboard simulator that can do your work for you. (select jpg.c from a folder, paste it in site 2, press the print button, press the o.k button, delete jpg.c, press the o.k button, then select jpg.c (with arrow down) paste it in site2 ....

I hope this "handmade" solution helps.

Is it a bustled Fiery or EXP250? Jeff has the right Idea. Make a freeform with the logo then add the variable to backside.
