What color space are you scanning them as? I assume you are scanning as RGB. 24-bit or 48-bit? sRGB or adobe RGB or what? Vistaprint is really geared for office people printing things where color isnt' super critical; I'm surprised they're requiring rgb vs. cmyk, but maybe this is to gear it to...

On vista I've seen some programs send a blank print job to a rip -- I'm not sure if it was a temp or spool file filling up or some other reason. I can't recall this ever happening to a non-rip epson though where the printjob is usually spooled in the computer (workstation you're printing from)...
