    Hallo everybody,

I'm thinking of buying the c452. I never run above 5-10 thousand images/month and 30% of them are 300 gr. velvet cover pages for books.

I heard from someone that there is problem with that kind of stock.

Generally speaking, what is your impression about that machine?

    Hi belousi2000,
I currently use Xerox DC2240, but next week this model, C452, arrives.
As I have talked with Minolta's service-guy, who said that these machines are whole new architecture and are really good. If I'm right, it can print on up to 300gsm paper (by specifications) so it should work with 350-400gsm paper...
But if you need to print a lot thick paper, maybe you should consider Xerox DC12 (used are not very expensive) - these printers are designed for thick paper (the paper goes straight (no folding) through drums)...

    Alberto thanks for your reply.

I currently run a dc-12 and the truth is that they can handle 250 grams and even 300 grams. The problem with the 300 grams is that the toner has not that smooth appearence the book industry is expecting. Above all, this machine uses oil which is the No 1 enemy for lamination.

I also tested c451 and p353 but I am not happy with the result.

    hi there!
if you want to chek 452, you should check 352 - slower version of 452's technology.

    Hi Guys

We are trying to use a BIZHUB C452 with 300 gsm silk card and it is showing roller lines, have you/anyone been able to sort this problem - it looks as if the pressure on the final rollers is too great, does anyone know if this could be adjusted - we only want to use 300 gsm on this m/c no other thickness - we use the bypass tray and thick 4

I have talked to my service guy. He said - sorry, all printers, that have 'not silicon' print finishing have the same issue.

Hi Allberto we are having to send it back it seems it is realy designed for A4 80gsm and A3 300gsm will not get a quality finish not our words their's, we were supprised as the brochure dosn't say this, we are very disappointed as the printing was fine it was just we thought the rollers to tight, as they have to cope with all sizes and we thought they could have adjusted them as we only wanted 300gsm all the time.

I haven't tested yet, but he also mentioned that this issue is when paper is thicker than 250 gsm.
Plus - paper is also very important.

Have you tried one-side lamination to see if the roller lines disappear?

no we are not using it as the engineers say 'The C452 specifications are all based on 80 gsm paper stock @ 5 % toner coverage.' and the marks on the thicker paper are within the specification of the m/c - but thank you for your info

I have noticed that these lines disappear after a while.
P.S. There is (was) an issue with these machines: a sort of piece of plastic (separator from transfer belt) is damaging TB. And it is very noticeable on full coverage prints.
    Removing it solves the problem.

In normal mode (not banner) max width in settings - 310 mm (tray can handle max 315 mm).
In normal model (not banner) max length - 457 mm (I put 460 and set as 457) - no errors in that point.

In banner mode max width - 297 mm
In banner mode max length - 1200 mm (120 cm) – I sometimes have to print on 640 mm length paper.

But if you plan to print business cards, etc. - it's really not worth getting one.
It's a really great machine for office duties (printing, copying, scanning, etc.), or printing things like user manuals, some kind of brochures, etc.
But not for digital print house service...

No, I don't use it with fiery.
But I think problems, I am causing, has nothing to do with print-controller.
As my tech-engineer says, it's basically „machine limitations“...

My C451 always had problems with thick stock, print consistency, color registration & jamming problems. You can run 12 pt and above at peak condition. I was on service plan with KM themselves, but after a few years, no matter what the techs from KM did, they never performed to my satisfaction. You must be very good to do the maintenance yourself. Hope this helps.
