    Hi,

I know that this issue may have been brought up in this forum in the past but i write this to address certain specific issues:

I am a first generation printer, doing commercial jobs and textbook printing. Printing jobs usually being around 3000-10000 impressions on an average.

Lately I have started doining a few trial jobs for pharma packaging (Duplex boards- 250-400 gsm).

I own a second hand 4 colour Akiyama Bestech 32 and 2 colour HMT 36.

Now I plan on purchasing either a Komori Entrhone 429 or a Heidelberg SM 74. However I have certain queries :

    1. IS the double diameter cylinder of Komori En-429 superior to SM-74's single diameter cylinder in printing board of 0.50-0.60 mm / 450 gsm?

    2. which machine will fare better in the heat, dust and humidity of the indian subcontinent? ( we wil have a/c ducting though)

    3. Which machine is cheaper to maintain? What if I can secure 3 years spares warranty and free maintenence on the SM-74?

    4. Heard that SM-74 is very 'delicate" especially its electronics.

    Thanks

    JD

To start with , i had in mind for over 20 years , that the world is based on Heidelberg , and all the rest is junk.
But one day i found i was wrong.
Komori are beter quality as far as my opinion go's , and cheaper to own.
you will need less spare parts and knowlegde , but you WILL need to work by the book (some times it's the long way to heaven , rather the short way to hell) or you may encounter problems.
Komori is better as for productivity too , but you need to have a qualified operatpor that flollows the book... no short cuts.
The X2 cylinders on the Komori are better then the HD 74's , but it is not a real board press.
if you want to get high quality (very relative) on board , i would recimend a Lithrone press or a CD HD , and then i will point out Komori as better. the heat is more of a stock & ink issue , not to the press , but you must have Stable current fed to the press at all times to guard your electronics.
    good luck

In my opinion, avoid both and look for a CD74. Because both presses you mentioned are not good for heavy board.

    Hi sir
For the 350g/m² I suggest cd74 or xL75 if you want to choose heidelberg machine otherwise there is the KBA rapida 75 it is also robust

    Hi
It's depends upon various factor to start .
One thing you keep in mind
More the sugar more sweet is your cup of tea/coffe.
For packaging company (pharma) best is cd74/xl75.
    Now again things depends
    1) budget.
    2) expectations
    3) work to be done on the machine
    4) service provider in your area(near by) other wise you have to call engineer from remote city and it will cost you too much in case of break down.
If you wanna more clarification pls reach me . I am from delhi.
