water pan insulation

any suggestions on what to use for water pan insulation....old stuff is falling off needs to be replaced...thanks

 

Check out McMaster-Carr online catalog, EPDM foam sheets. You'll have to thoroughly clean water pan, and remove any adhesive to adhere new sheets with contact cement. Very labor intensive, but with an adhesive remover, and a good supply of 3M abrasive pass, you'll get to the point you can fit and glue up the insulating foam.

 

Ive had success in glueing up the old stuff as long as its not falling apart in chunks. As junker mentioned you've got to get ALL the old adhesive off before glueing it up. Don't even think about running without the insulation as the pan will sweat from condensation and water droplets will fall onto the sheet. Ive also heard of a guy having success with a thick application of spray on truck bed liner. You can buy that stuff in cans from auto parts stores and just spray it on in multiple coats after a thorough prep job of the bare water tray.

 

That truck bed liner spray sounds a heck of a lot easier than fitting new foam rubber...or how about that flex seal stuff they shill on late night tv
