    Hello all :)

My question might be dumb but I need to ask :)

I have CANON C1 with special toner installed. It is used to make decals for pictures on porcelain tiles.

Everything is working OK, but (there is always one :) ).

Magenta I use is not like "regular" magenta. (It is bit more brown than magenta. When it is fired than it looks like real one)

When I try to calibrate machine with ES-1000 from my Fiery Q2 for magenta it says "wrong strip". Is there way to force fiery calibration software to believe that this is real magenta? (Cyan is red without any problems, I believe there would be no problems for yellow and black)

Is there any way I can do calibration or how to know what should be the density values for my proprietary colors?

    Thanks in advance

I don't even know where to start.

Accurately linearizing your printer with these custom inks is kind of pointless. Because the final product changes during the curing process, the machine really needs to know what the 'final' result is going to be. Using the uncured toner isn't going to give you predictable, controlled tones or colors. I would do one of two things in your case:

    1) Remove calibration data and deal with the machine the best you can, realizing that you are never going to achieve the level of predictability the machine can offer

    2) Find the a tile with a similar white point to hammermill 28lb, transfer the density patches, bake, then scan. The problem at this point is if this process takes 24 hours, then the results are no longer valid

I am sorry I cannot be of more help but the fact is the machine needs to know the "end game" for this process to be of use.

    Thx on reply :)

I made profile with fired tiles and can kind of guess what woul final result look like but toner consumption is a great issue.

I spend far to much toner than I should. Way to much toner goes to waste bin. I did Full autogradation on printer and know need to do some kind of calibration to get DMAX and ink limit values, but keep getting that wrong strip error and when try to calibrate with ColrCal get "Measurement

Thx page can not be found"

I still think linearizing isn't going to work for you... however...

If toner consumption is your concern, you might want to look into a profiling package that offers toner-saving ICC creation. Fujitsu has one that I like quite a lot. It lets you strike a good balance between toner saving and color quality. It would work with your existing ES1000 as well.

You would just have to bake a set of patches on a well balanced white tile, then use the resulting profile with any CMS.

    Thx

Canon technicians should come to see what they can do. I hope they will tell me something.

What is the name of software that are you talking about?

    thx

No I haven't. I use it that way.

    Which toner do you use?

try cleaning the drum and transfer belt via control panel, then print the calibration via panel, check the magenta ramps. if the ramp is clean then the printer is okay, go to software setting. if there is a tint of other toner in the magenta ramp. ask service to clean it the printer.

pm me your skype id. i was a former canon color management consultant.
