What advantages does a machine with a new style belt fuser have?

Are there advantages or tradeoffs that make a tried and true roll fuser design better for some prints or reasons?

The belt fusers are expensive and have heard from others with some tearing problems and also that they don't handle heavy2 stocks as gracefully.

    you,re right xpquickprint.
belt fuser has a problem handling heavy stock even the specified paper like the 5180. the max is 250gsm but the printer is having problem with the last 4 inches at the rear side of the paper. The good thing about roller is, it reduces the uneveness of the prints.

Thanks billy. Roller as in old "normal" style fuser with upper heat and lower pressure roller? If roller delivers better quality as well as heavy stock, why were belt fusers introduced? Do they offer anything?

In desktop printers I read the belt fuser provides near instant-on which I can see would be an advantage, but the 5180 has a warmup time of 4 minutes -- it doesn't seem like an issue for a machine this large or larger.
