Hello! We have a QM-DI Classic, and for many years we have been washing the blankets by hand (all 4 units) because our operators have said that the automatic blanket washers do not work well enough. Has anyone else had similar experiences, or are you using the auto blanket washers and having good results. Washing by hand is a bit of a time waste!

    Thanks!

    Hi,

The units might need re-setting, which is fairly simple task to do. What is the conditions of the blanket wash rollers like also the diameter of the rollers and also the black drive wheels. What wash solution do you use, i generally recommend Varn Pronto plus for the DI. If there is not enough solution being applied to the blanket after all the other items have been checked there is 1 additional thing that can be done but only as a last resort.
The blanket washers should be in working order as they are used in the imaging process and do help in getting rid of the silicon and in that way cutting down spots.

    Regards.

    Hi,

I recommend using the Presstek / Heidelberg DI plates and also the Heidelberg plate wash cloths.
There is a lot of other people offering wash cloths that are allegedly as good as the Heidelberg ones but i find they can give other problems.

    Regards.

Chek roller nip (wash roller) via special function or by actuating the corresponding valve. Check washer on Unit 4 For roller settings (no spring force- have to adjust by hand). Check oscilation function. Always use the apropriate solvent. KEEP the washing unit clean and in goog condition . CHANGE the pads more often.

    Hi,
many pressman stop using Blanket Washing Device.
The most common reason is: they don't maintain it well, they are dirty, dry and demaged.
It's very usefully to have it in working condition. It's improves the quality.
I refurbish Blanket Washing Device for my foreign customers, receiving them and sending them back by the carrier.
If you need my help just contact me.

Rollers are bad and also black rolls on ends.

I ran a QMDI PRO for Five Years and the Blanket washers never worked very well. They required a ton of maintenance and if you ran any ink coverage at all you may as well wash all of them by hand.
(I think Heidelberg blew this one) It would be nice if they had blanket washers like the SpeedMasters.

    rebuilt blanket washers.......

    Why buy rebuilt???????
Save your money.Blanket washers are very easy to rebuild if you have a little patience and instructions. You can do it yourself. Do not by this roller recovered. For $20.00 more you can buy brand new. It will last three times as long. Most of the time they just need to be adjusted. See the PDF someone posted.

How did u come to the conclusion, that u need 2 add more pressure on those 2 washers? What do u mean by "manually turn" ?

I understand that for some of you, it is impossible to understand some terms in the posted PDF, such as Service level, I/O , change status, and other crap that sound Greek (!!) to you. Sorry about that, its Heidelbergs fault. You dont need a password , or enter Service level 1 at all. Just follow the pneumatic pipes that come out of the pistons, which engage the Washup-units . The pipes end up on valves, underneeth the catwalk. Actuate those valves manually, and you will have the same results. DI pro guy, if you do that , follow page 9 and 10 of the PDF document. I believe, that this is what you are looking for.

    Hi ,
manually turning is the best check if BWD works , device has to clean itself, if it suppose to clean the blanket.
3 unit makes really less pressure because it is smaller than 1&2.
The most important is parallelisms of the rollers to the blanket cylinder ,adjustable with small screws in the axes of BWD. 1,2,4 unit 7 mm contact line, 3 unit 6 mm line.
In first step the big screws has to be turned off. Actually I never adjust them again. They only make pressure =performance of washing worse and the only advantage of them is to avoid the rest of wash solvent in the gap.
But when the rollers are worn, it's easier to wipe a bit of fluid from the gap then correct washing by the hand.

when i turn the BWD by hand it seems to clean the "rollers" on the unit.
So since i dont much about it, i figure that maybe it needs more pressure. And actually i do understand about change status and some of that stuff, its just that this press is very new to my shop and me,and i cant afford to be down for any amount of time.
Thanks,,,I know what u mean by the air valve,,,I gonna do that tomarrow,,thanks bro,,
thanks MECHANIC and yes JAN you understand what i was tyring to say...
    thanks again guys
