Not realy restricted to web presses but as I'm having the problem on a web I thought I'd post it here.
Whenever we switch to UV inks we have problems with the non image areas of the plates staining and transfering ink to blanket then web. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I take it you have compatible rollers/blankets for UV and you condition correctly every time you switch?

Commenting from a sheetfed point of view.
We started off using Varn (hard) fount solution.
Years later we switched to Prisco fount. Using 2351 on the conventional presses and 3451 on the UV with 8-10 IPA

    Hope its some help?

First, your press must have UV rollers and UV blankets. Most UV rollers and UV blankets can go back and forth as we do. Most importantly, when going from conventional to UV you MUST clean press thoroughly. Clean with a UV wash, a roller type deglazer (triple threat works good) and hot water bath. You must also use a UV fountain solution. If you do all of that, then try and add a 1/4oz of gum per gallon of water to your tank.

    Hope this helps.
