i have a LARGE job coming up next week it looks like. IGEN4 with freeflow

    tested them...

pdf background with personalization. using GMC to make print files.

prefer pdf, but those ripped at about 25 sheets a minute. not going to cut it. :(

postscript was a HAIR "better" but burned me with "parallel rips" on. lost half the page of print...this happened the other day too. 500 sheets i had to redo.

think the finished .ps print files were 13mb?

anyone know of any "quick" tips I might be missing? I am a printing guy, not graphics guy....

I know about adding the background to personalizing at the FE, but no training on that, and there's 15 different backgrounds :(

    any suggestions are MUCH appreciated.

Oh and taking volunteers to come help run it LOL 78000 sheets and I only run one shift

A quick tip that may help you have premedia use acrobat and run pdf optimizer then add the variable to it we use fusion pro. If you dont the free flow will not keep up with the engine start and stop :(

    good luck

    thanks for the response....

so far so good.... TOok some unnecessary color out of the pdf... "trim area" lowered the file size to 8mb. used pdf, not .ps

staying ahead of itself...but only just....

therebut for the grace of print quality adjustment... LOL made it 2 files ahead (500 duplex) well be ok unless we have to stop and re rip.

    well...this is all moot.

this job was not an igen planned job. It was a mistake...and yesterday. we weighed the bottles before and after print...we estimated 10 grand in toner. quite a bit for a job not priced for igen...

SO.... its headed to offset now LOL. ill get 20k or so done.

revisiting... I have an Igen 4 with freeflow.

I have a 14 page (12 of them high res pdf background) running through GMC to make Postscript files. This is a multiple bin job.

    the rip time is terrible

I had our prepress "flatten" the backgrounds. no luck.

IM trying some things on queue level..not looking good.

I cannot do pdf because I need that multiple drawer capability

Files rip half the speed of the Igen ...

    any help would be wonderful...
