    Hi all,
I am chasing an issue with an iGen4 / FreeFlow Print Server, regarding the quality of fine text.
With edge enhancement OFF fine text is not very clear, if I put edge enhancement ON the font changes color. I have run the same file on an iGen 150 at Xerox and the text looks really good.
I am using the system specified line screen. Can someone suggest some things to try to get good quality fine text without changing the colour!

Try curving the fonts or rip as a native PDF.

Have tried PDF rip and PS rip but the fine fonts still not as clear as with edge enhance on, proplem with that with that on as I said was the colour of the font changes.

iGen150 will have a better output. It runs at a higher native resolution, uses different lasers and uses different screening. There is a limit to what any engine can achieve - the software has to decide whether to place the dot down or not and on very fine text this could mean it filling in or looking rough

Saying that the newer desktop printers can produce better output than an iGen150 *but* they don't run at 150 A4 sheets per minute and the click/toner charge is way way above what the iGen's are charged at. I always reply to this argument that they are welcome to run the 100,000 sheet job on the desktop printer and see how long it takes and lasts :)

I have had this same issue with fine text, at what point size is your text set? With a few jobs, I have been able to apply a stroke to the text in the native file and it has helped. A stroke of around .015pt seems to work without visually altering too much.

With smaller text I still get the haloing/color change. Similar to the Edge Refinement issue, I have had varying luck with toggling trap and anti-aliasing.

I cleaned ,sensors ran a dc9051 xerographic setup.then a color check,,all good ..went to print a job and the color was completly wrong!! restaRTED THE PRESS and the color is back to being ok but we are also back to were we started before xerox came in yesterday..any text below 15pt the color is wrong........to be contuinued!!!!
