So the foam on the ETAC/MOB shield had a huge gap in it. I did not have a replacement, but I made something up with some insulation foam and stripped what was left of the old stuff. New foam sits nice and flush with the station above it, providing what looks like a good seal. ETAC sensors still seem to get dirty all the time, enough for the machine to stop and complain about XPE-09-3503. I can't get it to run for more than 15 minutes, and sometimes it gives me magenta background, but not always. Is there something missing from my seal? Or is the ETAC sensors themselves that are the problem?

Have tried cleaning the sensors with some anti-static fluid? Tech tells me that helps keep the toner from being too attracted to the ETACs and MOBs and let's you go a bit without cleaning. Though if you're getting that error every 15... there may be more to the story.

Milo called it. Developer leakage was coating the sensors, especially from the black. The developer drop tube seals were duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust in the wind. I took the drop tube infeeds off the and foam seals literally disintegrated in my hand. I had to fabricate some new ones from air conditioner foam. Seems to have solved the problem. There was also a fair amount of developer sitting in the bottom of the machines. Had to vacuum that out. Dropped a bolt on accident and went after it with the magnet. Magnet came out looking like one gigantic metal porcupine.
