Fuser web not picking up all debris

I've used iGen3s and now on a iGen4. The steel roll in between the fuser roll and the fuser web collects gunk (toner, debris.) and eventually ends up showing on the print. I've tried to scrape the gunk off with the maroon Brillo pads but they eventually make their way back.

Can anyone tell me what the issue is?

you can see if the web is working by whether or not it is streaked consistently...should have steady lines in it.

*are the metal rollers REALLY caked? I get this too. ALOT. I blame the paper.

I have gotten used to cleaning them every so often...just keeping an eye on it..because we use crap paper.

    cleaning: (not standard procedure)

-let it cool, (or not if impatient like me) then scrape with sideways motion using razor blade. <--probably not best idea but works swimmingly
-then use the xerox fuser roller cleaner with scratch pad for small spots.
-follow up with alcohol on paper towel.

once every other month or so.

do you run a lot of ncr? the only time we have to clean it up is when
the fuser web fails to move!!!

The fuser web is working normally. I scraped the solid gunk off but it comes back.

Do you think it's mechanical or is there a "resetting" the fuser web? Maybe it's out of whack??

Reset NVM 23320 (iGen4 only) to zero when replacing a web

Higher coverage jobs lead to more buildup, do you typically run a lot of that? Your tech can do a web/external roll contact arc adjustment. If you reset the count to 0 when you replace the web it will turn faster in the beginning. You could increase the normal speed of the web, although I don't think that is the preferred method. Sometimes the external rolls just need to be replaced, especially if they're scratched up. But typically they last a long time.

If you elect to clean them, take a wooden block from a new fuser roll box, and lay a scratch pad saturated with alcohol on the roller and use the block to move it. I find it cleans a little better when it's hot. But be careful not to burn yourself!

But if it's showing up on prints, that's a legitimate issue that needs to be addressed.

We run and Igen3 and had this issue in the past. Eventually the tech replaced the external heat rolls with an upgraded set that are covered in, what I assume is, a silicon type material. Don't know if this option is available on the Igen4, but after this change we have never had to scrape the toner from the rolls again!

Sounds like tech needs to perform fuser maintenance. Change the wick, blade and general cleaning of fuser oil tray. When paper dust, etc., builds up on the wick or blade it prevents oil from being moving on to metering roll, then donor roll and then the fuser roll. Effectively creating a dry spot alloying ink to pluck off work and to the rollers.

Is it uncoated stock that seems to cause the issue more than coated? Cause with uncoated paper not as much ink actually fuses in due to the imperfections, causing the web to collect alot more debris. I always have to scrub my rollers after a long uncoated job.
