lost one of the main drive gears. (one of the set of two that pivot when you latch fuser) its teeth are GONE.

and, right before a weekend I was planning on working, too, totally booked.

So i call Xerox (they are now short an Igen tech) to get the part overnighted, then I would only lose one day.

nope. "it requires a puller...gets seized on the shaft, its an expensive motor and it's very difficult blahblahblah, we'll be there tuesday"

    chicken $hits.

3 days of production lost, and deadline missed. If you cant tell, I'm not pleased. My stuff always breaks before Holiday weekends, when Xerox techs are cockroaches when you flip on the light switch. LOL

It doesn't require a puller - it's just awkward to get off. They should have lubed it at every change so it doesn't get stuck on the shaft. I never used a puller when I did them but the gear must be hot to get off which is a pain in the butt

I think they just couldn't be bothered!

Agreed, MarkD. Ive removed way more difficult stuff off my motorcycle... torch it haha.

as far as removal and lubing. I am pretty sure thats never happened. Maybe once in the early days... I know the tech back then did fuser maintenance. He might have cleaned and lubed, but removed and/or changed? Iv'e never seen any gear off of it... its another original :)

Noticed the twin gears between THAT set, and fuser itself is a little spiky. Ill for sure have him do that one too... it looks like a BEAR!

I would not put up with poor service if you are missing a deadline.. climb the xerox service the chain , a tech will show up before the close of day when you step over a couple of "supervisors"

Not so much "poor service" as it was, hey just throw me an extra bone... not their fault it died RIGHT before the holiday... :) I could have fixed it. When it helps THEM, protocol is wishywashy. but if its for me... "you cant touch that part" lol.

I get it but dont get it. :/ he did both gears and was done by 10 am.
