Hello to you all, as you might guess I'm new here & new to running the igen 4:confused:
My problem is in a full coverage tint on 350gm Matt paper & comes in the form of a thin light line in all colors. This doesn't happen if I print the same job on stocks such as 200gm & below. All wires grids cleaned.

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Check the STAB - may need replacing

Also the pinch rolls on the decurlers can cause fine lines on heavy stock. They get worn from the idler rolls

    Open your print engine

    Look at your Stab/Tab blade.

Is there excessive build up and or little stringy hairs coming off if it? Or also one of those little teeth get bent and drag on the image as it passes through.

Keep your bead magnet clean also. I have seen that do crazy things if you do not wipe it down every other day or so.

It could be a million things.

Ask your tech for a file of 60% Full Page Color separations of CMYK. By running those separations you can determine if your problem is prone to only one color. Or if you give me your email I can send you the file.

Those will help you time and time again and shorten your trouble shooting process. If there is only a streak in lets say the Cyan separation then go to your cyan station and trouble shoot. If the problem is in all four color separations its probably your belt, fuser, yadda yadda..

    I hope that helps.

I remember being a new operator and pulling my hair out.

Thanks for you help, a tech came today and changed the position of the pre transfer charge unit and seemed to be fine after that.. Tab blade was changed too.. Just trying to get my head round stuff as you don't get told too much about these presses in training. Its as if they don't want you messing around inside too much with them;-/ Been an HP indigo op for 11 years now and do everything and more that engineers would do with it..
Had a great experience with the fiery today, trying to print/process an 3,000 page direct smile job, took forever to process! As a test sent it to the indigo and it ripped in half the time.. Maybe we doing something wrong? But it's all a great learning curve;-/

Thanks very much for all your imput:)

Every time that you face a problem Save a sample of the issue in a binder and write on it or next to it what fixed it. So the next time you have that problem you can save yourself time and fix it quicker

Also get as much information from your tech as possible. What caused it? What fixed it? And is this something I am allowed to do.

sorry to hijack...are you talking about that bank of magnets directly below the cleaning assembly? What is their main purpose?

I remember being a new guy, and having a white streak, with dark around it. And totally random....ZERO pattern, came and went.

tech on vaca, so worked for days and days... those magnets have electrical tape covering them, the tape had become brittle and a corner was flopping around, hitting the belt. building up, then dropping toner...thus the "random"

Just yesterday, i had a similar streak, coming and going, but didnt see anything on that magnet...wiped off, problem gone. came back today WORSE. hit it with a brush... a screw was stuck to it. COVERED with toner. I just didnt see it.

I kinda dont want to know where this screw came from..... :)

anyways, it is a quick thing to check on occasion as part of maintenance. seems to be "catch all" for all things dirt....

It is there to pick off any developer that has been carried around on the PRB before it reaches the cleaner
