Have any of you iGen operators been running into bad pr belts? I keep getting belts with a bad seam. This causes the belt to be indented around the seem leading to wire mod strikes and other image quality issues.

I had this when I first started in here. Never happened again

  • Man seems to be a long ongoing issue for me. Its getting old.

could be the igen itself. your tension could be too high on the pr causing the seam to tear or "strech" as the techs refer to it. and yes this tension can be adjusted just have to tell the tech you want it retensioned.

They are shot out of the box. The seam on the belt isnt done properly. For some reason I keep getting them. Maybe one out of every 4 belts is shot.

God damn it! Just had to replace another one because of this. This is two in less then a week.

    wow! thats nuts!

"N-V-T-S NUTS!" (100 imaginary karma points if you get the reference) :)

how many impressions? it hits the wire mod? think something else is wrong? They could at least replace your spare belts and be sure....?

  • Last belt was only 90 k one before 130k tons of oil contamination too. my machibe is two months old.

    A bearing??

Wow! sounds like it could be a problem with a bearing that holds the rollers the belt rides on if it's that type of oil... if it's fuser oil then probably not. It could be the tension on the belt when it is set back to operating position, but if the belts are bad out of the box, just replace them and don't put one on that shows any signs of poor construction. They are mass produced by machines that can also get out of adjustment from time to time and the QC people should catch them unless they are sleeping :)
