    Hi Forum,

We acquired this machine a couple of months ago to increase our B&W printing capacity, but the toner yield is terrible for a production level machine and the cartridge chip says toner out and there's still a lot of toner left in it. We also have 2 other Sharp B&W with less print speed but far great toner yield.

Is anyone else having this issue and what if anything can be done with Xerox to resolve this??

I realize this is an old post but it sounds to me like you are having an issue with your Toner Sensor. Fairly common on this unit. The measurement and the target are out of wack, so its going through a lot of toner.

I have this same issue with a Xerox 7970. Sometimes the cartridge is half full. The agent tells me the printer does that to protect itself! sure... The problem can be the metered chips, it registers that the cartridge has reached its maximum use when it hasn't. I save the cartridges and when another cartridge is reading empty and is actually empty I take the chip from it and put it on the old cartridge with toner and it continues to print. I also weighted an empty cartridge so that I can weight all my cartridges to make sure they are empty before switching them out.
