I am going to be buying my first color laser soon for my photography business for advertising. I estimate only about 10K pages a month at most. And for now ;)

I do want to be able to do 100lb or more card stock though.

I am looking at the Phaser 7500 and the Ricoh C430DN

The Ricoh is a lot cheaper, and I hear that its a LOT cheaper to refill the toner... But is it a good printer?

The 7500 looks like a great printer but I read something about it not being the best for card stock because of its "S" like roller feed for the paper?

    Any advice?

Xerox phaser has great prints but DRINKS TONER! Im getting rid of mine as I've been dumping £230 in toner on it every week....and those are compatibles. It would cost me over £1,200 to fill it with xerox toner and that gets me about 2k full coverage A3 prints.

I haven't seen Ricoh prints but can assure you that Xerox's quality (assuming it kept well maintained) is stunning. As far as Buddha303 post, well running A3 full coverage, what exactly did you expect? For you and everyone else who reads this post, guys please keep in mind - the toner yield advertised by manufacturers is based on LTR/A4 page with 5% coverage! It is applies to all and any copier / printer. Despite the fact that it is not a small printer, it is still considered a toy for commercial printing, something that relatively dirt cheap to buy and cost arm-and-a-leg to run. Phaser 7500/7800 and I am sure Ricoh that you had mentioned have a serious design flaw - there are 2 of 90 degree turns from any paper tray to exit tray - no straight paper path, let me assure you that anything called "coverstock" will come out curled i.e. won't lay flat. If you are projecting to pump out 10K click per month, may be you better off with Xerox docucolor 252 or whatever they have as a replacement/new model. Yes it may cost x5 times to buy but you can take on under 10c per click anysize contract where all your service and supplies will be covered in 7-8cents per page service agreement. There will be no worries about cost of drums, fuser, toners, you would not need to worry about coverage and how much toner does it draw. This is precisely opposite business model VS buying cheap printer and pay high for consumables. That way you can do your work and concentrate on it rather refilling toners, changing chips, worrying about quality of those powders (they are not all created equal) And 10k pages per month for Phaser 7500 is kind of high anyway.

That was my post, i guess.
It is "S" like paper path, i.e. paper starts horizontally, feeds up in to vertical - being imaged and fused and then comes out on to horizontal tray so it follows a sort of letter "S" out of bypass tray or letter "C" out of regular trays.

Another thing, keep in mind that pictures are taken in RGB and printed in CMYK and transition isn't always smooth....
