It's not that difficult, but if you haven't done it before a tech with service manual would make sure you don't make a mistake.

On the docucolor 250 (going from memory here) you pull out the drum door.

Take all 4 drums out and put them in their silver bags if possible or at least cover them with paper and put them in a closed box to keep any light from getting on them.

Then with the drum door pulled out and the drums removed, you remove a couple screws to remove the black plastic shroud on the front of the drum door. This exposes the screw + spring mechanism that holds each developer housing in place.

I put a piece of clear tape with bent corner over each toner inlet to keep anything from dropping in.

Remove screw and black cover from atop the wire connection at the back of the developer housing. You unhook the small electrical wire connection at the back of the developer housing, very carefully. The front is then attached with two screws if I remember correctly, one on a spring mechanism to keep it tight but allow it to move when the drum is inserted. Then the developer housing will come right out (it slides on a stud at the back).

With the developer housing out, you will see the couple screws which hold the plastic developer housing case together. Once you remove these small screws, the plastic will come off with a bit of care as you don't want to break the plastic tabs. Then you can remove and refill the developer and reverse the steps to replace the developer housing in the machine.

I hope I haven't missed any steps or details. Good luck.

    Thanks xfactor

I found a diagram of the area and your information makes it clear who this is done thank you. One question the developer comes in bags do you pour this into the new developer tank ?

Yes. You pour the developer that comes in the foil bag into the "trough" of the opened developer housing moving it along to get it fairly evenly distributed from front to back. Turn the drive pulley gear on the developer housing clockwise gently while adding developer to get it distributed into the developer housing evenly.

    developer change

Where did you find the diagram to help you with the developer change? Did you find the process difficult? I'm looking to do one on my DC242.

In service manual the change procedure is well described.
