A month ago my copier wouldn't duplex. Had a tech in and he found a small piece of plastic that was stuck in the bottom. When he removed it it worked fine. It happened again and he of course first looked to see if they was anything stuck in it again. He checked all of the connections and wiring which were fine except for one wire that he sautered. He said the only other thing it could be was the sensor. I just put it in and it still won't duplex. I have 700 36 page booklets that I have to have finished this Friday. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Paper type is set to plain?

What happens - does the paper start to duplex and jam or ???

Yes plain paper. I tried every tray and other stocks. The paper makes it through till it gets to the top across from the finisher.

Try disconnecting the finisher to isolate the problem.

I disconnected the finisher cable, reconnected it and restarted. Same problem.

Did you try to run without the finisher?

No, I've never detached the finisher.

Is the print still a one-sided print having exited the fuser completely when it jams, or is it in a different position?
The way it duplexes the print goes through the fuser on the first side, drops down into the side door slot, then goes under the transfer and back up for the second side print, then exits the fuser and into the finisher. I'm wondering if it's stopping with the sheet in the door slot or under the transfer drawer or somewhere else.

Yes, just one sided. It's stopping about 6 inches on the side door slot.

Small lever on the inside left of the door. Pull it towards you and pull the finisher away from the printer. Two cables in the rear, one communication and one power.

Is the lever on the inside of the finisher door?

I detached the finisher and it still won't duplex. Any other ideas? Attached photos show where the paper stops, the red circle is where the broken plastic piece was found, the piece is about 1/2 long. When my tech removed it I was able to duplex for a few weeks then it stopped in the middle of printing a booklet.

Looks like it jams as it's passing into the duplexing device. Hard to tell what the plastic piece is without looking at it.

Open the bottom drawer, on the right side under the fuser, is a small black switch with yellow wires connected to it. Blow compressed air into it. Removing the switch will make it easier to clean it thoroughly but not necessary. If the problem persists you may need to test the switch.

Query about your response to this old issue - you asked if stopping with 'paper in door slot' - got just that problem, did you know of a cause? Duplex jobs only, printing side one, but stopping with 077-291 fault code with paper out of door slot, so obviously not going correctly down side door slot for under transfer pass. Just from your question, it seemed you might have an idea for this problem? Appreciate your assistance.

It sounds like a sensor. Are you sure the fault code isn't 077-219? 077-129 RAP Paper from Duplex did not turn on the Regi Sensor within
    the specified time.

Ah you spotted the important but incorrect typo! doh! Sorry about confusion
Yes it is suppose to be 077-129 - have cleaned wiped and air sprayed every sensor I know of - is it a specific one or amalgamation of several tracking the path of paper?? Thanks.

I replaced the sensor under the fuser. The part number is 130K87880.

You're welcome. You can buy the part from ComDoc 800-321-4846. Ask for Mike or Debbie. Good luck.
