How similar or dissimilar are docucolor 2240/3535 printers to their consumer phaser 7500/7750/7760 models? Closely related in design, parts, durability, servicability, or an entirely different breed in terms of engineering?

Well docucolor and phaser in design are almost the same the diferences are the rip or embedded controller, the speed, the 2240 motor is diferent of the 3535 and also with the phaser models the phaser 7760 has integrated a new fan, also the drums are diferent, the fuser but are this are little changes with the same basic design.

docucolor have RIP print controler like efi, and advance color management for professional printing, but phase don't have. only u can print your document to phaser.
