Hello from Somerset in the UK

I am being forced away from my trusty DC12 as Xerox are pricing me out of the market by charging me nearly £0.15 per click for maintenance + VAT (sales tax)

This has made me wildly uncompetitive in the current market. I have a mate with a DC242 who is paying £0.04 per click. I have been offered a refurbished DC250 for £3000 with a click charge of just £0.05. My friend can't remember why, but has a nagging memory of being offered a DC250 when he bought his DC242, but was advised against it. I don't rate the print quality of the DC242 compared with the DC12 - the registration between the colours is not great.

I do question my own sanity for even considering a Xerox, given the way they have treated me in the past

    I would appreciate any feedback on the DC250 v DC12 v DC242/252.

    Many thanks

Hi Ralph, how are you? To the best of my knowledge, DC252 is a successor of DC250, where if there were any bugs in DC250 (I believe there were some) they where suppose to be worked out in 252. 3000 euro for DC250 is not a bad price as long as machine has a Fiery controller. If you can spare some extra an get a DC242 or DC252, it probably would be a good idea, if you plan on using it in graphic arts, make sure it has Fiery. For Example, we have offers on DC242 from Leasing company return/repossession for about 5,500 - 6,000 USD with a little over half a million prints on it. Also I heard that Konica-Minolta C6501 is an excellent performer and their service/prices is pretty good.

Amazing price. Technology moves on, but these are still very good machines. I'd get a 252 if you can and it's only a bit more expensive, but I don't remember ever hearing of any major 250 bugs that had been corrected with the 252 - only a number of minor things tweaked.
