Looking for good digital color machine with low investment -- would you buy xerox doc 12 used?

The docucolor 12 was the best selling color machine ever for xerox. Print quality is as high as any machine today in that ballpark price.

Disagree. The doc 12 was a great printer, but any on the market now is going to require a boat load of maintenance. Cost per copy is going to be higher than current machines. And you can't get current printer drivers for the slow old rips that work with the doc 12.

Doc 12's were great machines in the day, but they will be outdated by everything else that is moving forward. Gotta love progress.

it really depends on what kind of use you want to get out of it, if your primary use a simple prints on 24lb to 100lb text weight paper than it is a great machine and you should be able to do 10K - 15K impressions without too many problems, but if you plan on running cardstock especially double sided i would not go for it, it's got really bad front to back alignment. colors are great compared to light office use machines but if you compare them to today's light production machines it is lacking. the key here is to weigh your buying price vs usage.

Not that it means anything but we sold our used dc12 for $5000 about 2 years ago.
