There have been several accidents with fingers when trying to remove spent cores from roll shafts. Everything is automated except this function and these must be removed manually from the roll shaft. Unfortunately even with training if an employee forgets proper handling when removing the cores the result can be a loss of a finger tip due to the shaft configuration at the end where the core passes the shaft end.
Does anyone know of a tool that can be used easily thus keeping hands off the core being removed from the shaft.
Has anyone experienced similar safety concerns? If so what corrective solution was successfully used?

I have not run many models of web presses, but all the ones I have run, do have an air release on the shaft. Once you release the air, the core just slides off with little to no effort.
