aqueous is best applied with a coating unit that the larger presses have. varnish on the other hand is the best option but the roller train has to be very clean or it will tint your varnish to the last color that you printed. Keep in mind that varnish or aqueous is mainly for coated stocks.

ok thanks. i was hoping i could do aqueous coating on this machine. i am going to use 80 lbs bristol stock for what i was coating. its not a coated stock. seems my best option is uv then. that kinda sucks was hoping i could do a coating over matte paper. i only get one sided cover gloss stock from my supplier.

You can varnish matte stock with gloss, satin or matte but it won't give a look like uv. Theres a paper called chromekote that almost looks like uv right out of the box. It may be cheaper than having to coat it.

You might want to see what bristol stock looks like when uv. The bristol ive printed is more like uncoated than matte.

Most times I print Bristol on my short run copier. I get a small sheen. It's sellable but my supplier of uv coatings says the uv won't stick to toner. So I was considering to use a aqueous coating or varnish. I just wanted a bit more pop. Aka shinny shinny. But the paper u recommend looks like it can do it I will try to get a sample and try. It thanks. It's a bit expensive but if it's good for small runs I will try it. Thanks for your help.

You can do aqueous coating through ink duct. Ask your supplier for duct emulsion. You will need a retarder for spraying on rollers between pile changing or stoppages.
