Greetings experts. I have an HP 5100 that is primarily used for printing on to Smart Plate brand polyplates. Recently we have had issues with spots of the toner coming off of the plates after applying the plate prep solution. Even wiping the plate with pure water dampened paper towel will remove spots in the toner. We have replaced the toner and the fuser but the problem persists. Anyone else ever have this issue or have any trouble shooting suggestions?

I have scanned the plate after using the SmartPlate Prep 394 solution and another scan straight from the printer. Here are some screenshots for reference.

Is the printer still set to ProScan rather than FastScan? It may be going through the printer too fast. Is it OEM toner?

Hi. It is always Cartridge or Fuser. I had used this set-up for years. Cartridge has a PCR - Primary charge roller that tend to pick-up dust from the plate. Being the copier tech I did dis-assemble cartridge once upon a time and cleaned that roller with distilled water. Also fuser may look good but give acceptable results only about 30% of its life. This unit lays image based on static attraction and environment is important, if it is chilly in the room - it may not work so good.
