Ive been running a Man Roland 700 and been searching on line for a new job. I've seen alot of companies looking for a pressman to run a Roybi presses. How different are they to run in comparison to the Man Roland? Is it an easy learn (just the relocation of the buttons and there options?). Ive not seen this Press in action, but if I do opt to apply for a job that has a Ryobi, will it be an easy to learn? I also have a back round in running a Komori and Heidlebergs. (40")

I'm not a fan of Ryobi and I've stated that on many occasions. Let me put it this way. If you were the manager of a top class hotel would you apply for a job making fries in Burger King? I wouldn't leave the job you have for a position on a Ryobi.
They are an easy press to run but that's about the only good thing I have to say about them.

Nothing wrong with the Man Roland ....With this economy, the company has laid me off, and when searching the Want Ads, I see more Ryobi's and no Man Roland's jobs. Since I have no experience on a Ryobi, I was wondering how much different it would be to run one.

They're a doddle.

in my personal opinion, if you can run a Roland, then you can run any press. I have had several other pressmen tell me that Rolands are one of the hardest press to learn with the computer set up and I believe that too. I could be wrong but i believe the ryobi's are built more for quick smaller runs than longer one...

Ryobis are great machines. They are built as good or better than most and have terrific support in the US. In the 20" format they eat up the competition wieghing 30% more, being 40% more productive and having only 4 paper transfers vs. 12 (vs the GTO ).

Pressman are always surprized how sweet they print.

I think you're the first printer I've ever come accross that likes them, what other presses ahve you worked on that you're comparing them to?

I have to agree. I ran a Ryobi for 8 years then we bought a Sakurai. I know it's not top of the line but it seems light years easier to run than Ryobi. I had 8 years of thinking I couldn't do anything right until I found out it wasn't me!

If you can run a Roland - you can run ANYTHING.
We always have trouble looking for a Roland Pressman - we have tried training "seasoned" pressman and ALL have failed coming from other machines. The best Roland operators have come from training the feeders to be pressman.
