Kompacs on 3302

Finally got power to a used 3302. when I went to fill the dampening system, it just
kept running. Not through the seals but over the top of the rollers. If I hadn't pulled the water bottle out it would have run the whole quart of solution down into the press. What's going on?

P.S. I have zero experience with the Kompac dampening system.

 

Does your Kompac unit have a cover the bottle goes into or a gravity fed bottle/hose deal? On the gravity fed system I used to have there was no adjustment to raise and lower the bottle. This is normally how you set them for proper flow. So.....The rubber plungers in time can go bad. They can swell and prevent flow or dry out and allow water to just flow and not stop. Also if they have not been used in a while they can get sticky. So run them under the faucet and flush well with water. You might see some old moldy chunks of dry solution come out too. The ones I used had 3 plungers, 1 in the bottle top, 1 in the bottle holder and 1 at the end of the hose that goes into the unit itself. Also be sure the tops are fully engaged into the respective holders. The little O rings can enlarge from years of in/out so be sure those are not out of shape. Just use plain water until you get things sorted and keep a CLOSE eye on it the first few weeks of running. As your finding out lots of little bugs to iron out. BTW replacement parts for those are kinda expensive. But very well needed sometimes. It should be fine once you get things cleaned up and sorted.

I have the bottle/hose set up. will check the plungers and take an assortment of O rings in with me today.

 

Turns out one of the bottles was cracked. Ordered a new one.
