I have an Accel hot air drier on a 3302. Last year it worked fine, when I came in on Tuesday it didn't. The fans on the thermistor unit run and the fan speed control works fine. The run lamp comes on when I go on impression but it doesn't heat up. Also the exhaust fan on the front delivery cover does not run. Any ideas? Dave
Dave, typically the "thermisters" heating coils, will go bad after a while, they either get shorted out from blanket wash or fountain solution being spilled in them. Was there any smoke or smell coming from them the first time you noticed them not working? Keep in mind the coils themselves have high voltage going thru them do NOT touch them when it is suppose to be on, you can try to check the voltage when they are calling for heat but the coils are literally packed really tight within the case which makes it almost impossible to check while in the press. We should have a set in stock if you find that they are bad, click the link below. https://ryobipressparts.com/products/x25-88099-thermistor-pak Good Luck, Paul Ryobi Press Parts 800-901-3304
Hi Paul, I was hoping i'd hear from you. No, the smoke didn't come out, they just didn't work on Tuesday. I don't spill blanket wash, fountain solution or ink on my press so that's not the issue. I suppose I could take the whole assembly out and test it if I knew where and what to test for. Could the exhaust fan not running be related to thermistor failure? I'll check your link for replacement parts and pass it on to the powers that be. thanks, Dave
Dave, you could also do a ohm test on the thermisters, you can call me tomorrow if you like and I'll be happy to walk you thru testing it, have a meter on hand and if the Tempest is hardwired to the wall or press you need to know where the breaker is. Paul 517-881-7114
Paul, Steve Goss my pressroom supervisor at Neyenesch went ahead and ordered the thermistors. Thanks for you prompt service. I installed them this AM and got no love. Same symptoms, the fans run and are speed adjustable. The exhaust fan on the delivery does not run. When I put the press on impression, the heat lamp comes on but no heat from the unit. What next? Dave
Can't remember for sure but think the fan needs to work for the unit to operate. Been a few years since I ran a 3302 with one of those. I can call and ask a bud of mine he's a retired press tech of 30 years. He'd know for sure.

Well, today I checked for power to the exhaust fan. Got 24 VDC as I should so I pulled it off, blew it out and now it runs. The heater still doesn't. Where can I get a schematic for this unit? Dave
If you have the newer style dryer (control box with corded keypad) you might check continuity of the 6.3A 250V microfuse located on the circuit board in the control box. Make sure unit is disconnected from power before opening box and removing fuse. If fuse is bad, check for shorts in wiring runs before replacement. Note: fuse looks more like a vintage transistor than a conventional fuse.
