I am currently trying to run a three color letterhead on my 9985 and whats happening is im getting image wash out on tail end of the sheet, Its on 24# Arrowhead bond, I can throw in some 70# linen and it prints wonderfully no wash out at all but the second it hits the arrowhead it washes out and for the life of me I can not figure it out If someone could help me that would be wonderful, I have tried everything I know, even had the press tech in and did some adjustments to the crestlines and it ran fine but we had to over ink the press so it wasn't the right colors

Depending on how old the blankets are they can get a glaze buildup on them and repell ink. Really shows up on light stocks. Probably just enough pressure on the 70# to get a good image but once you hit the 24# it washes right out. Look closely at the blanket when dry. Glaze areas on blanket will look shiney. This is just the normal buildup you get as the blankets age. Hot water and some wash on a rag and elbow grease will remove the glaze. Could also be dry solution buildup and the imp cylinder. That can give you a funky pattern on screens and solids. Or the blanket itself is just beat.

One other thing to mention is the stock itself. I have had some digital papers that print like crap with oil base ink. Those have been mainly some coated stocks but a couple offset stocks have been like that also. FWIW.

Ther are some stocks that repell water, are you running poly or metal plates? I run one job where on the set up stock I print it with almost no water and a high squeeze on the metering, but as some as the job stock starts running it cleans up.

I see my problem and it's my fountain solution getting back into my ink rollers on the op side, got some new blankets today and it's still the same problem, I'm running metal grain plates always have
