How does a Riso Forcejet HC5500 compare with an HP edgeline?

Does anyone have a ballpark price or monthly lease payment and cost per print figure for a Riso Forcejet HC5500?

Have you looked at the side by side spec comparison and field test reports from BLI?

No -- I searched the Buyers Lab site but didn't find the side-by-side you mention. I did find the BLI review of the RISO HC5500 (w/PSR7-9000 Adobe PostScript) specifically but didn't pay the $29 to see it yet (I'm not a BLI subscriber and the award review provided by Xerox on another printer I'm looking at wasn't very comprehensive or sounding like it was written by a printer.)

Thanks very much for the information.

For now I stayed with xerographic -- the edgeline interested me at first but they have no service/support network in my neck of the woods and the presales information was very very limited from a technical standpoint (even cost per print information since you're on the hook for supplies real-use adjustment with their contract setup)

The forcejet was interesting to me as a machine and I like the idea of the technology and relatively inexpensive consumables and the freedom that would bring, but the print samples lack the punch of even my canon irc3220/3200 business-class color laser machines and there are visible print head lines which bother me in the output of the print samples. (I never liked the lines that made up even clc output but I'm more sensitive to these inkjet lines that are much more noticable to my eye) The speed would certainly make this an interesting machine for small accent color applications, but my use is more photographic, so I'll keep an eye on the technology. For it to be really interesting to me I'd want to see:
1.) no lines in inkjet head configuration
2.) more color gamut and density on common stocks (even the coated didn't look as good as my laser output on plain paper, and the plain paper looked really dull in comparison, so the paper cost would offset any cost savings for me at present I believe.)
3.) ability to print on gloss with great gloss (and different stocks with ink that matches the stock) (this is one area where I would have thought inkjet would excel, but it's not yet a feature of this generation forcejet.)
