HP Officejet V40 ~ Wanting Metallics

Hello everyone!

I have an HP Officejet V 40 all in one printer. I'm not sure if it's a laser printer??? hmmmm

I'm looking to create some waterslide decals for model cars and I'm not sure how to do this. I'd love to be able to create designs with the printer I already have (HP Officejet V40) though I'm not sure that I will be able to find Metallics to use on this system.

If it isn't possible, then I'd appreciate some advice on finding a reasonable printer to help me do this.

Here are some examples of the work I'd like to create!~

The old Alps MD printers used to be a very cheap way to do basic gold and silver metallics, but these printers are EOL now I believe.

Is EOL a brand name? would you have any suggestions on a reasonably priced model that might help me.

No I think they're End Of Life now and no longer being sold retail. The technology came out in the late 1990s but they remained a specialty printer and were surpassed by inkjets and desktop color lasers for speed, cost, and general-use print quality. They used a thin ribbon for a "micro dry" transfer printing process. But they were the only desktop printer I know of that had the ability to print white, silver or gold metallic out of the box.

Thank you very much for the clarification! I have recently been looking to eBay for an Alps printer or another comparble model that might be better suited or new to the scene.

It is hard to believe that there has not been another printer company with the ability to produce metallics and white lettering!

I really do appreciate your continued help!
