Low-cost color book printing in Singapore or China

I went to a book signing today and was greatly impressed by a coffee-table book that was printed full color, heavy coverage, large size 10" x 15", with a really rich looking varnish finish and hard cover binding; author said print cost was only around $10/book in Singapore printing 2,500 copies!

So how does one in the US go about arraning book printing in Singapore? (if self-publishing) Or has anyone here had a book printed in China? I assume having something done so far away involves some risk, but this one sure looked nice and the overseas price is half the best quote for having it printed in the USA.

Offer one-stop catalog printing service, half price!

I am Leo from Rainbow Printing Co.. Many people are complaining that they can't find good commercial printers to help their books out. Firstly the printing cost is too high in some printing company; secondly it's really hard for them to choose one from the printing company list online.

In fact you could try to find one in China. First the printing cost should be much lower because our cheap labors, second we guarantee the printing quality, which you can get informed of many people who do printing business with China.

If anyone who are interested in printing in China, I can help you. I work in a professional printing company in China-Rainbow Printing Co. Ltd. It has more than a decade's history. The clients we are working with now include Lenovo, Hitachi, Konka, ITAT, Wyeth etc. and some well known publisher like Disney. Our main products are hardcover book, soft cover book, magazine, calendar, catalog, poster and paper packing box etc.

Also Shenzhen is an important and new-built seaport, sharing the same board with Hong Kong, with many sea routes and flight courses to famous ports in the world. Transportation is very convenient, especially to Hong Kong, only takes 40 minutes by train.
Sincerely hope to corporate with you!

This was a worry - with a US printer I'm confident I can work with them if something went wrong with the job. In a worst case, I have legal recourse if a press in my own country doesn't deliver a final result that matches the proofs or if some aspect of the binding, materials, etc. is not up to standards.

I must admit I'm a bit uncertain what might happen if something went wrong dealing with a press in China, if I chose the wrong press. I fear I might be up a creek without a paddle.

Do any customers actually visit to oversee their projects run?

    Quality Printing from Singapore

I have been involved with over 35 books published by HarperCollins publishing in New York. I live here in the USA and use only printers from Singapore. Everbest Printing in Singapore is one of the best. We've never had a problem with any of the books - check out any "The Big Book of . . ." series in the graphic design section of your bookstore and see that the quality of these books is the best. If you deal with the US distributer be sure to contact:
