SinoFoldingCarton 2012 to Illustrate Beauty of Post-Press Processing

As well as its functional uses for product packaging, folding carton also has a creative technology aspect. The design and vibrant printing colors in the pre-press stage, together with post-press processing, give folding carton a distinct decorative appeal.

Many post-press processing technologies - like hot stamping, glossing, frosting and embossing – enhance the attractiveness of packaging. Products have a much stronger visual appeal when two technologies, like hot stamping and embossing, are combined. Hot-stamped products are characterized by clear patterns and vibrant colors. They are also long lasting and weather-resistant.

UV glossing can brighten the appearance of folding carton packaging. The process of frosting involves using screen-printing to apply special UV printing ink to products. This produces a matte effect and makes the products appear more attractive.

The embossing process uses an elaborate micro pressure plate to create special textures across the areas to be decorated. The process not only creates beautiful decorative effects on products, it also produces a 3D effect when the textures are integrated with texts and pictures. Special post-press coating cloths with gold, silver and pearl colors raise the quality of packaging. If the printing sequence can be likened to drawing a dragon, in its intricacy, then post-press processing is the final flourish that makes the dragon look ‘alive’.
