    Hi,

When I make my plate, there is often a region around the edge of the plate that does not wash away under the tap water. Even after drying
and curing this edge area becomes soft and will scrape away when the blade scrapes across it.

Another problem I am having is that the plate will not lay perfectly
flat and the edge of the blade catches it.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Answer:

You should use a soft brush to wash the plate in a container, which there is warm water, can not wash the plate under the tap water.

you said that even after drying and curing this edge area becomes soft and will scrape away when the blade scrapes across it.

Please try do the post-exposing process(Step 7) for a longer time, like 15-20 minutes. Also, after removing the surface water by sponge roll, you need dry the plate in a hot-air dryer at temperature 50-70 deghree for 5-10 minutes. All these operation is for one purpose of make the plate hard to use.

Another problem I am having is that the plate will not lay perfectly flat and the edge of the blade catches it.
Answer: use strong double side adhesive glue to fix the plate to the platform.

After you expose the film positive and screen, wash the plate in a shallow pan with a soft brush, for 60 seconds atleast. Next dry the plate with a lint free cloth, and place it in a toaster oven at the lowest setting, about 120 degrees for 5 minutes. Next, expose the plate to cure for atleast 5 minutes or more, depending on the wattage of your exposure unit. Spray adhesive to secure the plate down can be a bad idea if it's lumpy. Use a putty knife or similar object to smooth out the spray adhesive prior to affixing the plate.
