Looking for input from anyone using the JT Direct inkjet metal plates imaged on an Epson printer. I got some test plates from Mark Andy/Presstek/ABDick that they had made with a test print pattern and they performed well when I tested them. So I bought a dozen or so from a local printer friend that used them. The test ones had a gray color to the plate background. The un-imaged ones I got from my friend had a purple color tinge to the plate. I thought that after I imaged and baked them that would change to gray but it did not on the first ones I tested. I am baking mine in an oven at 300 degrees for 6 minutes. Looking for your experiences with these plates and if the color of the plates changes after post bake, how they perform on press, and how you bake them (unit type, temp and time). Thanks in advance!

I am running 3 different inkjet ctp plates in my shop. (1) GenieJet/Polijet (2) JT Direct metal (3) Metijet/gelatin coated (UV exposed). The polyester needs to be baked at 250 degrees for 2 minutes, the JT Direct at 300 for 6 minutes, and the Metijet you UV expose then develope like a traditional plate and it is by far the best overall quality and run length (100,000+) just takes longer to produce a plate. The polyester is rated for 10,000 and the JT direct 20,000 but you can get more out of them just be cautious if you are running halftone dots as you could loose highlights.

The images below were both ran using the polyester, 10,000 impressions on the smoothie flyer and 1000 on the other one showing the gray balance bar.
