I have a dpm 2000cps and am wondering why you need to run disk first aid.

It runs in my mind that you can get to the check disk utility through the service screen. It seems like when I first got my machine that is what the tech at then ABDick told me. However in lieu of that have you tried just leaving the password blank. You also might try calling tech support at Presstek. While I'm sure you don't have a service contract they have provided me with telephone support before with no charge.
There is also a company in Omaha Nebraska that might give you some help. They also walked me through a problem not long ago. They are called Print Technologies. The techs last name is Ridenour. Can't recall his first name. website is www.printtechnologies.com
Wish I could be of more help. Good Luck

I just joined the forum. I had such error message before. I changed the small battery in the computer. It worked ok after that.

Do you still have a DPM2000? I am not getting good impression from the plates. Do you know how much temperature the activator attains? Any other suggestion will help too. Thank you.

    dpm2000cps - ideas

Here are some ideas about getting a good image.
    1. How old are your chemicals? As my stabilizer ages my images deteriorate. Keeping the chemicals fresh helps significantly.

    2. There is a place to change exposure in the utilities menu. That may need some adjustment. I don't have my machine running at this moment so I can't give you the details but if you click on utilities you should be able to find the settings to adjust.

    3. Make sure that your machine has warmed up completely. If the machine asks if you want to let the machine warm up before making the plate ... do so. My images are always bad if I haven't allowed it to warm up.:D Good luck!
