I have problem printing on 300gm duplex board which caused mottling on my printing? I am using a 5 color speedmaster which some colors have mottling streaks. To overcome it I have to print 2 pass to overcome the problem. I know by changing the substrate will overcome the problem but beside it what alternatives are there to overcome the problem? Anyone have overcome the problem beside printing 2 pass.

    Thanks.

We have had some luck laying down a full solid of tacked up trans. white or extender in first unit. Run very little and run press at slower speed. I think we used to call it "sizing the sheet"

Well you said the answer, get better stock. You could try to apply sizing to the sheet. This may improve the surface smoothness.

try talking to your ink company and see if they make a process set for these kinds of stocks...is it the cyan / magenta mostly? We had a customer when I worked for Toyo who had a mottle problem with the cyan so we adjusted the ink for this board stock they were running ,not quite sure what it was we did , but try getting ink maker involved if you can't change the paper.,.,
and yes^ sizing the paper would help as stated above...
    keep us posted...

Most probably the cardboard is problem or worn blanket. You can find more info here.
