Thread: color question. ink tips??

Im Printning some business cards with a very limited supply of ink.
i have decided to use a dark gray-ish card stock paper for this particular card.
the problem is due to my limited supply of ink I am unable to test my colors
and see how they differ from digital to how they appear on the dark grey stock.

The most important color in this design is green. Actually, almost the entire design is based on the color green.

so i simply need to know that if i put the color green in my business card software, is it going to come out brown on the paper??
Maybe i should use a bright yellow as the gray has a bluish tint to it.

ANY advice on this color problem or any tips on saving ink will be greatly appreaciated!!!

why do you have a limited supply of ink? for me to print anything, whether digital, litho or wide format, i always have more than enough ink to do the job twice??

usually if we were printing on a dark paper we would add some opaque white to the ink it might take some playing tho to get it right. some pms's you just wont be able to mach on certain stocks.

Now what you say about trying a different color ink on the colored paper and getting what you want because the two mix will work sometimes.

On yellow paper we always run rubine red to make a bright red.

but with your paper = gray.... I dont what you mix with gray to get green....

In you situation I would try the opaque white. we mix sometimes up to 50/50 the pms and white.

You have to print this job in two steps. In the first run use a copy of the green plate. Print the Opaque white with a thick enought layer so you cover the grey paper. Then in the second run overprint the white field with your special green color. Let the green logo bleed just a little bit so you cover all the white if you have problem to achive a perfect register. Colours will look much better ,the better the white is
