Any tips/RIPs to reduce IPF5000 dot pattern for more continuous tone photo output?

I'm quite impressed with the color quality of the IPF5000, and the price per print makes it a printer that I could use for a lot of gloss photo jobs / mockups / proofs / posters, etc. (where the Epsons tend to be a bit too pricey to be cost competitive with online printers for example.)

But... I'm not that wild about the visibility of the dot screen with the IPF5000 vs. the more continuous output of the Epsons.

1.) Must the 12-color but more visible dot screen go hand-in-hand with the lower cost per print of the Canon IPF5000?

2.) Are there any RIP's or other settings that can improve the "continuous tone" appearence / decrease the visibility of the dot screen from the IPF 5000?
